If You Have a Pet, You Will Never Run Out of Smiles!
68Every day I am reminded of how much joy my pets bring to my life. It doesn't matter if Im lonely, sad, angry, stressed, my pets always know how to work their magic on me! So I thought I would share with you just a few of the funny, crazy, oddball things that my pets do and hopefully you will share some of your stories with me! Who couldn't use some extra smiles in their day and talking about our pets is sure to turn some frowns upside down!
My dog Buddy was adopted from our local SPCA. We think he is a Fox Terrier and he can really be a goofball! Every morning and every evening when he wants to be fed he starts wiggling so hard he can barely walk! And with the wiggle comes a deep throated moan or growl and then, and this is my FAVORITE part, he flips up his front lip and gives me the biggest goofiest smile showing me all his front pearly whites! All along, the full body wiggle keeps going. I have to admit, this is one of the things I look forward to everyday and I can't help but laugh every single time he does it! Another silly thing Buddy does is something we noticed when we first brought him home from the SPCA. When we took him into our backyard that first day home, we noticed while he was running up the hill he would only use three legs! I thought oh no he must have an injury! Well after watching him for a while we realized it was just another crazy characteristic of his! To this day, he still prefers to use only three legs sometimes while running, most of the time when he is walking up the hill and even sometimes when he is running in our house and decides to stop short, he looks like a cartoon character as he will stop, turn sideways a little and have one of his legs pulled up in the back. Oh and did I mention, sometimes it is his right back leg and other times it is left back leg!
Now for my little Gizmo. Gizmo we adopted also from a local animal shelter and we believe he is either a Jack Russell mixed with chihuahua or maybe even a rat terrier mixed with chihuahua. Well whatever he is, he is a cutie pie. He has a short stout body and a really little head. He is more of an independent type of dog, very different than our other dog Buddy. What makes me smile about Gizmo is when he gets excited and truly shows he is happy. Its such a simple thing but when we adopted Gizmo, he was extremely shy and scared. He showed signs of abuse and neglect. We worked really hard on getting him to trust us and trust his surroundings and he really came a long way. He still has a very quiet nature about him but when he knows he is getting a treat or when he plays with Buddy or when he is getting ready to eat, he gets SO excited and instead of his back end wiggling, it's his HEAD that waggles back and forth! While his head is wagging back and forth he sort of does a little prance with his front feet, from one foot to the other in tune with his head! These are the moments with him that really make me smile!
Besides our two dogs we also have two cats, Sunshine and Lucky. These two make quite a pair, both are orange and white and.. fluffy...well, most people say oh my gosh those are big cats and I say, not big, just fluffy!! That does sound better, doesn't it??!! Well, Sunshine and Lucky love to play together and they get into wrestling matches. They get into this crazy position where one is laying one way and the other is laying the other way, they both put eachother into a headlock at the same time and both will start kicking the other one under the chin while holding the headlock! It is the craziest thing and they dont hurt eachother, its just a game they play and it is hilarious!
Well these are just a few of the funny things my pets do that make me smile everyday and make me so thankful for having such wonderful companions in my life. I couldn't imagine not having pets, they truly are a joy. And since all my pets were rescues, every time I look at them and see their happiness and see how content they are, the bond we share is that much more special knowing that I have made such a difference in their lives.
Now it's your turn! I would LOVE to hear about your pets and the funny, crazy, goofy things they do that make YOU smile!

Pets provide us with unlimited amount of pure happiness, best thing they wont ever break your heart and keep loving you. The feeling you get when your lil pet scurries behind you as soon as it sees you is just amazing. Beautiful hub. rated up!
Pets are like kids and they got the purity that we human lack very often. Nice hub, lots of fun. voted up
So very true...i grew up with pets, and i can't even imagine life without the... :)
No kidding - mine keep me in stitches most days so smiles are certainly a part of their contribution to my life!
My BFF (his name is Clancey) a Shih Ztu, is the light of my life. I just loved this hub and the pictures are wonderful. Thank you.
Love your pets so cute. We have 2 dogs 4 cats. Two of the cats adopted us. Our dog found them in the barn he knew they were there long before we did. Now they've made this their home.
My niece's puppies were on Funniest Home Videos last night the little pups in the kiddy swimming pool.
Thanks for stopping by my hub.
How cruel some people can be. Did you see the video with the guy who dumped 6 little puppies. They were all running after him he drove his truck off and almost ran over them...
You are so right saying that our pets will never let us be bored. I have a dog and she is with us already for 13 years. She was found in a street in a very bad shape, and we adopted her (I wrote a little bit about her in my hub about animals). She is so "human" in all her ways.
So adorable! The pictures sure did make me smile :)
Awwww sooooooooo cute and funny!!! :) that's so funny u really have unique pets!!!!! Sunshine and Lucky r so pretty - great names for them - one looks like sunshine and the other looks happy-go-lucky! ;) Gizmo and Buddy r so cute too - im happy u got them from the animal shelter because people don't usually go to the shelter for pets they get them from a breeder just because they haven't been owned by anyone yet! But I think that's not fair, people buy dogs and cats from breeders just because they might be prettier and have fewer health problems! But then what about the animals at the shelter that cruel people have left behind? Is that the end of the animal's life if nobody gets him? Its just so sad...I'm so glad u got ur dogs at the animal shelter that's so kind of u to help those poor dogs! Now they have a happy home with u and won't ever be treated cruelly again. I have a few dogs from the animal shelter - they can actually feel what I am feeling because when I'm sick they all come to where I am and either start to try to make my laugh by doing funny tricks or all 5 ( yes, you heard right I have 5 dogs ) of them lay down and look at me soberly - they
can sit like that for hours its adorable!! :) One of my pets is a female chihuahua named Chi-Chi ( which was really strange to find a beautiful female pure-breed chihuahua in an animal shelter! ). All of my dogs are from the animal shelter we saved them just in time before...before its too late. Sigh.
Have fun with your dogs, erthfrend!!!! :) good luck!

I adore these stories about your pets! And the great photos! We have pets too!
Recently a little stray dog has adopted our big ol' outside dog, Bruce, who by the way has never been very friendly with other dogs. When I first saw my dog's new dog in the backyard with him, I was really scared that Bruce was going to destroy the new little dog. Little Dog was standing perfectly still and Bruce was sniffing all up and down Little Dog. Little Dog was staring straight ahead not making eye contact or any motion toward Bruce. Then Bruce hiked his leg and "claimed" Little Dog! Little Dog ran away, and I thought that was the last I would see of him. But lo and behold that very afternoon Little Dog was back, and has been a fixture with Bruce ever since!
Little Dog won't let me or the kid near him, and is very skittish. We have given him his own food dish and water bowl, but so far he eats with Bruce!
So my dog has gotten himself a pet! Who would 'o thunk it? I just hope Little Dog will eventually get used to us people so we can care for him in the proper way!
Thanks for the great stories about your pets! It was a very nice read. And thanks for the invite to share our stories too!
